Design and Application of Heavy Lift Beams and Hitches
Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM (AKST)
This event has been organized for the Alaska Professional Engineering community and will present an overview of some of the engineering activities that undergird the data published in various “rigging” specifications and handbooks for common types of hitches. The event will provide insight on the governing specifications and methods for the design of lift beams along with their specific application in Alaska's unique environmental conditions.
The event begins with a formal lecture led by William Merrell, PE at the Alaska Wild Berry Theater. Mr. Merrell has worked closely with the structural steel fabrication industry since 1966. He currently specializes in the design of connections and the preparation of engineered erection procedures for steel structures. The event continues with a hosted lunch at STG's corporate office and culminates with a heavy lift demonstration incorporating the strategies and engineering considerations discussed during the morning presentation.
Attendees will also earn 3 PDH credits through their participation with the event.
When & Where
Headquartered in Anchorage, STG Incorporated is a heavy industry contractor offering construction services and management to clients across the state of Alaska.
